Registered Manager: Start Up Children’s EBD Residential home

Location: Bromley
Salary: £60,000 per annum (Performance based bonus’s on full occupancy and Ofsted rating Good/Outstanding)
Contract: Full time, permanent
Start: Ideally July 2026
Service: New two‑bedroom Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties residential home for children and young people. Lead the setup, registration, mobilisation and ongoing management of a small specialist home.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day running of the home, ensuring safe, consistent, person‑centred care for children with EBD.
- Recruit, induct and supervise a small multidisciplinary team; deliver training plans and competency checks to meet specialist needs.
- Maintain robust safeguarding systems, ensure staff adherence to safeguarding procedures, and act as the home’s safeguarding lead.
- Implement and maintain quality audits
- Oversee positive behaviour support plans, risk reduction strategies and therapeutic interventions
- Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, placing social workers, clinical partners, families and community services.
- Manage budgets, rostering, agency use and procurement to ensure cost‑effective, sustainable service delivery.
- Ensure accurate records, timely data input to provider systems and reporting against KPIs.
- Contribute to service development, admissions planning and occupancy growth strategies.
Notes
- The client has already completed a substantial amount of the groundwork, including drafting the full suite of policies and procedures. These are now in place and will require final review and refinement by the appointed Registered Manager ahead of submission and registration.
- This home is led by an experienced team, including directors who have successfully opened and operated other children’s homes. This is the first of a planned group of homes, with further provisions already being explored across Bromley. The appointed Registered Manager will therefore have the opportunity to grow with the organisation and play a pivotal role in shaping future services.
- Once the home is successfully established, they are open to supporting the Registered Manager’s progression into a Responsible Individual (RI) role, overseeing additional homes as they expand.
Person specification
Essential:
- Registered with Ofsted as a Registered Manager
- Proven experience managing residential services for children and young people, ideally with EBD or complex needs.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulatory framework, safeguarding, and positive behaviour support.
- Excellent leadership skills with experience recruiting, coaching and developing small teams.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail for documentation and data entry.
- Resilient, adaptable and able to lead a start‑up under pressure.
- Good communication skills for multiagency working and family engagement.
- Full UK driving licence desirable.
