Job Description:

We are currently supporting our client in the water filtration industry in their search for a Formulation Scientist specialising in UV-curable, high ceramic loading resins for additive manufacturing applications. This role focuses on developing advanced photopolymer systems optimized for stereolithography (SLA), digital light processing (DLP), and other vat photopolymerization technologies.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in ceramic or powder filled photopolymer systems, rheology control at high solid loading, and photo initiator chemistry. You will play a key role in driving innovation in high-performance ceramic materials for technical and industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resin development and optimisation – formulate and optimise UV-curable resin systems with high ceramic loading
  • Materials characterisation – conduct rheological and photopolymerisation kinetic analysis and support thermal debinding and sintering optimisation with process teams
  • Process integration – collaborate with additive manufacturing engineers to ensure resin compatibility across SLA/DLP/LCD platforms, troubleshoot print defects, optimise slurry stability and support scale-up from lab formulation through to production volumes
  • Innovation & Research – develop next-generation ceramic photopolymer systems and contribute to patents
  • Documentation and Compliance – maintain formulation records and ensure compliance

Candidate Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in: Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, Additive manufacturing or related field
  • 2+ years (industry preferred) in UV-curable or photopolymer resin formulation.
  • Hands-on experience with high solid-loading suspensions
  • Strong understanding of: Photopolymerization mechanisms, Dispersion chemistry, Rheology control
  • Experience with SLA/DLP additive manufacturing systems.
  • Familiarity with analytical tools such as rheometers, DSC / TGA, FTIR, laser diffraction / particle sizing
  • Patent or publication record in advanced materials
  • Strong problem-solving and experimental design skills
  • Data-driven mindset with statistical analysis experience (DOE)
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced R&D environment
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills
