Are you a corporate or funds lawyer looking to broaden your experience across the full spectrum of asset management work? This is an excellent opportunity to step into a high‑impact in‑house role within a leading global investment manager.

The Opportunity

Our client, a well‑established international asset management firm, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their high‑performing, collaborative Legal team. You’ll support a broad range of work spanning institutional mandates, trading and derivatives oversight, distribution arrangements, contractual matters, and general regulatory advisory.

This role offers genuine breadth, ideal for lawyers coming from a corporate, funds, or financial services background who are keen to develop into a more holistic asset management counsel.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll work closely with colleagues across Legal, Institutional Client teams, Compliance, Operations and external advisers on matters such as:

  • Reviewing and negotiating investment management agreements and institutional client arrangements
  • Oversight of derivatives and trading documentation (liaising with specialist external counsel)
  • Advising on UCITS, AIFMD, MiFID and wider regulatory requirements
  • Supporting unlisted equity transactions, debt restructurings and other investment‑related matters
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and service provider agreements
  • Providing legal input on cross‑business projects and initiatives
  • Contributing to legal know‑how, precedents and internal best practice

Who We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Qualified Solicitor (Minimum 3+ PQE) trained at a leading law firm
  • Experience in financial services or funds (in-house or private practice)
  • Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management
  • Pragmatic, solutions‑oriented approach

Desirable but nor required:

  • Exposure to unlisted equity transactions or debt restructurings
  • Prior Working knowledge of UCITS, AIFMD or MiFID
  • Experience negotiating institutional/segregated account documentation
  • in-house, secondment or client-side experience
  • Experience with UK regulatory frameworks (including Consumer Duty)

Why This Role?

  • Join a respected, people‑centric legal function with strong visibility across the business
  • Diverse, international scope of work
  • Hybrid working model
  • Supportive culture built on collaboration, integrity and client focus
  • A chance to broaden from a narrower corporate/funds practice into a truly multi‑disciplinary asset management role

If you’re a corporate or funds lawyer ready to take the next step into a more rounded commercial and regulatory role within asset management, this position offers the perfect platform.
