NextGen Teachers are recruiting a resilient and skilled SEN / SEND Teacher for a SEMH secondary school in Croydon, leading a new class of non-verbal pupils with complex communication and behavioural needs.
You’ll take ownership of a small class, delivering a structured, therapeutic and personalised curriculum, supported by 2 Teaching Assistants and a wider pastoral/therapy team.
The Role:
- Teach secondary pupils with SEMH, non-verbal communication & complex needs
- Deliver EHCP-led, personalised and structured learning
- Use Makaton, AAC, visual supports & sensory strategies
- Support regulation, engagement and behaviour
- Work closely with pastoral staff, therapists and TAs
Ideal for:
- SEN / SEND / SEMH Teachers or strong mainstream teachers with SEND experience
- Experience with non-verbal pupils, ASC, or complex needs
- Confident managing behaviour and building relationships
- Those ready to lead a class and shape provision
Requirements:
- QTS / QTLS preferred (HLTAs / experienced LSAs looking to train as teachers also considered)
- Experience in SEMH, SEND or complex needs
- Confidence with non-verbal communication strategies
- DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply)
