Support Worker

Location: Rochdale, Greater Manchester

Salary: £15.00 – £17.00 per hour

Are you looking for a role that gives work/life balance?

Are you looking for a role which fits around another position?

Are you looking for a position which supports a good work/life balance, for a part time role or for an additional role which fits around your existing position?  We have a great opportunity to join an established care team with permanent hours available within 4 weeks of the 8 week fixed rota situated in Rochdale.

The Client

Andrew is a 51 year old gentleman who lives in his own home in Rochdale, supported by his existing care team providing 24 hour care.

Andrew has an acquired brain injury which means that he is not able to communicate verbally although he does have limited hand gestures which support communication.  He is unable to move around independently and uses an electric wheelchair for mobility.  Andrew requires support in all areas of his daily life, including personal care.

Interests & Hobbies

Andrew enjoys his weekly hydrotherapy sessions although they do not currently fall within the shift times we are offering to candidates.  He attends Rebound Therapy sessions weekly each Friday which is a specialised use of trampolines to enhance movement, muscle tone, sensory integration and communication.  Andrew also goes to Skylight Circus Arts each week and particularly loves the Skylight Swing.

Andrew also enjoys watching TV with a particular love of most types of film as well as musicals.  He also loves listening to music and going to local gigs as well as trips to the theatre when he is on his annual holiday in Blackpool.

The Role

The successful candidate is likely to be an upbeat, positive and sociable character who is able to support Andrew in his day-to-day care needs with respect and courtesy, whilst enabling Andrew to access his interests and hobbies.  It is hoped that candidates may be able to offer flexibility to accompany Andrew on his holiday or other short trips he would like to take.

Whilst it would be an advantage for candidates to have experience of working with Clients with similar care needs, full training will be given. A full UK driving licence is also desirable, with a willingness to drive the Client’s vehicle, but this is not essential.
