Team Structure

The Information Officer is part of the wider Legal Information Services team. The team also works closely with Knowledge Development Lawyers to support critical business and legal initiatives throughout the firm. The team is collaborative and supportive, valuing knowledge sharing, innovation, and strong working relationships – all aimed at delivering the best outcomes for our clients and the firm.

This role is embedded in the Finance practice group and the Employment, Pensions, Private Wealth, Immigration, Contentious Trusts and Pensions, and Corporate Tax practice group (EPPICC).

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide in-depth commercial and legal research to the practice groups and beyond, varying in topic and complexity.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Legal Information Services team to deliver high‑quality research and information services, sharing knowledge.
  • Develop strong working relations within the practice groups, seeking feedback on services and resources and acting upon it.
  • Identify training opportunities for fee‑earners and new joiners and contribute to the development and delivery of relevant training sessions.
  • Liaise with Knowledge Development Lawyers and assist with key knowledge initiatives and projects across the firm.
  • Assess information products and services against fee‑earners’ needs – advising on purchases and renewal negotiations of subscriptions.
  • Raise awareness of the Legal Information Services team and its services, driving initiatives that promote the team’s value and contributions.
  • Support the ongoing development of the LIS team’s services and resources, always seeking ways to improve and innovate.

  • Expertly navigate Lexis+, Westlaw, Practical Law, and online research databases to deliver precise and relevant information.
  • Transform complex research into practical, business‑focused insights that drive decision‑making.
  • Engage and collaborate confidently with colleagues across teams, building strong professional relationships.
  • Create and lead impactful training sessions that boost the research skills of fee‑earners.
  • Manage competing priorities with agility, ensuring deadlines are met and projects run smoothly.
  • Advise proactively on information products and subscriptions, adding value through commercial awareness.
  • Anticipate and respond to the research needs of clients and the Legal Information Services team, demonstrating empathy and initiative.
  • Monitor legal developments and maintain current awareness, keeping the team informed and responsive.
