General Plant Manager

This General Plant Manager role is a chance to take full control of a UK manufacturing site and lead a significant growth plan over the next five years. You will have full ownership of operations, people and performance, with the backing to build something properly rather than just maintain it.

The Business

This is an established food manufacturing business supplying both branded and private label products into major retail and commercial channels. The site is set for major investment and growth, with a clear plan to increase capacity, capability and headcount.

The culture is practical and performance-focused. People are expected to take ownership, make decisions and deliver.

The Role

As General Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the full site operation, covering production, supply chain, technical and support functions.

  • Lead day to day site operations across production, logistics, technical and back office teams
  • Commission and scale new production lines, improving output, efficiency and quality
  • Take full ownership of food safety, quality and regulatory compliance including BRC and HACCP
  • Build and deliver a clear site growth plan covering people, process and capacity
  • Set and deliver production, cost and margin targets in line with business expectations
  • Develop a strong leadership team and create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

This General Plant Manager role is not about steady state. It is about growth, change and getting a site to where it needs to be.

The Person

To be considered for the General Plant Manager role, you will need:

  • Proven experience as a Plant Manager or General Manager within FMCG manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and compliance standards including BRC and HACCP
  • A track record of scaling operations, improving performance or leading change on site
  • The ability to operate both strategically and hands on when needed
  • Experience building and developing teams through periods of growth
  • Resilience and the judgement to make decisions in a changing environment
