The CER is an award-winning think-tank that seeks to achieve an open, outward-looking, influential and prosperous EU. It has two core missions: coming up with ideas and policies for making the EU more effective and successful; and improving the quality of the EU-UK relationship. It covers European economics, politics and security from its offices in London, Brussels and Berlin. The director will be based in London, but should travel frequently to Brussels and also to other European capitals from time to time.
Applicants should have expertise on the EU and Europe more generally, and a good network of contacts in Brussels and the major EU capitals. They should also be familiar with the debates on UK-EU relations. The next director should give intellectual leadership to the CER’s researchers, and should have experience of managing a multinational team spread across several locations, speaking to the media, writing policy-focused papers and fund-raising. Further details of what the job entails can be found on the CER website, www.cer.eu/job/director
The CER operates an open and transparent recruitment process. It is strongly committed to non-discrimination on grounds of gender, race, sexuality or age.
Those interested should send a CV, cover letter and links to relevant publications to Sophie Valiant (sophie@cer.eu) by May 22nd. We plan to interview short-listed candidates in late June. The successful candidate would ideally take up their role in January 2027.
