Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Bracknell

Contract Length: 12 months

Schedule: 20 hours per week

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support day-to-day laboratory operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills and an eagerness to learn. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and high‑quality laboratory environment, with opportunities to grow into more advanced scientific and analytical tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Support routine HSE tasks and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with laboratory protocols.

Housekeeping & Logistics

  • Perform general housekeeping to ensure laboratory organisation and cleanliness.
  • Assist with logistics, including ordering supplies, receiving deliveries, and inventory upkeep.

Instrument & Equipment Management

  • Support laboratory instrument management, including routine checks and basic maintenance.
  • Assist in preparing equipment for use by the technical and scientific teams.

Advanced Laboratory Support (Desirable / Development Opportunity)

For high-performing candidates, responsibilities may expand to include:

  • Conducting routine laboratory analyses.
  • Operating state-of-the-art analytical equipment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent timekeeping and organisational abilities.
  • Good attention to detail is essential.
  • Inventory management experience is desirable.
  • Experience working with radio chemicals—particularly carbon‑14—is beneficial but not essential.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum A-levels, with Chemistry or Biology at grade C or above.
