Safety Test Engineer | Gaydon | 6 Month Contract | Strong Day Rate
Join a leading automotive programme delivering safety validation across premium vehicle platforms. This is a hands-on lab role, not theory heavy. Expect to be on rigs, running tests, and owning outputs.
What you’ll do
• Execute component, system and full vehicle safety tests
• Work across pedestrian impact, interiors, restraints, body structures and airbags
• Deliver test plans aligned to programme timelines
• Produce homologation-ready reports
• Modify and support test rigs based on evolving standards
• Collaborate with safety, engineering and external test teams
What you need
• Solid mechanical engineering grounding
• Proven experience in a test lab environment
• Strong instrumentation knowledge
• Ability to analyse failures and drive root cause insight
• Confident communicator across engineering stakeholders
• Flexible mindset, OT and shifts expected
Nice to have
• Exposure to FMVSS (201U, 208, 216)
• Hydraulic systems experience
• Tools like Catman, Diadem, high-speed data capture
• DoE or structured problem solving (Green Belt level ideal)
This suits engineers who prefer practical delivery over PowerPoint engineering.
