Residential Support Worker (Bank / Cover Staff)

Location: Birmingham Pay Rate: 12.80 per hour Contract Type: Bank / Flexible Cover

About the Role

We are an Ofsted-registered children’s residential home seeking reliable and committed Residential Support Workers to provide flexible cover across shifts. This role is ideal for experienced professionals who are passionate about supporting children and young people in a residential care setting.

You will play a vital role in promoting the safety, wellbeing, and development of children and young people, delivering high-quality care in line with regulatory standards and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, child-focused care and support
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
  • Support daily routines, emotional wellbeing, and social development
  • Work effectively as part of a team and with external professionals
  • Maintain accurate records in line with policies and procedures

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or actively working towards it (in line with Regulation 32)
  • Previous experience within a children’s residential care setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Ability to work flexibly across various shift patterns
  • Professional, resilient, and caring approach

Compliance Requirements

In accordance with Schedule 2 of The Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, all applicants must provide:

  • A fully verified employment history covering their career to date
  • Satisfactory written explanations for any gaps in employment

Available Shift Patterns

  • AM Shift: 7:00am – 2:30pm
  • Afternoon Shift: 12:00pm – 7:30pm
  • Night Shift: 7:00pm – 7:00am
