CAD Engineer / Graduate CAD Engineer Nottingham

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000

The Company:

Our client is a well-established UK manufacturer specialising in the design, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of bespoke medical storage equipment.

With over 70 years of history and a team of around 85 employees, the business has built a strong reputation within a niche but essential industry. They manufacture everything from raw materials through to installation, offering a full end-to-end solution for their clients.

Due to continued demand and a recent internal move, they are now looking to bring in a Graduate / Junior CAD Engineer to join their friendly and supportive design team.

The Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or junior engineer to kick-start their career in a hands-on design environment. You’ll be joining a team of 5 CAD Engineers and will receive full training across CAD software, industry standards, and internal processes.

The role is heavily CAD-focused, with a mix of 2D and 3D work, supporting projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating 2D layout drawings from architectural plans
  • Producing detailed manufacturing drawings, including sheet metal, assemblies, and BOMs
  • Modifying existing designs to meet bespoke customer requirements
  • Supporting the sales team with tenders and quotations
  • Liaising with production and project teams to ensure smooth delivery
  • Coordinating with the shopfloor to support manufacturing updates

About You:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
  • Understanding of 2D and 3D CAD design
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Motivated, eager to learn, and keen to build a long-term career in engineering

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience with Solid Edge or SolidWorks
  • Exposure to sheet metal or fabrication design
  • Previous internship or placement in a CAD role

The Benefits:

  • Starting salary of £26,500 (up to £30,000 for more experienced candidates)
  • 20 days holiday + bank holidays (increasing to 25 with service)
  • Full training and development programme
  • Clear salary progression as you develop within the role
  • Friendly, supportive team environment
  • Opportunity to work on real engineering projects from day one

How to Apply:

If you’re a graduate or junior engineer looking to start your career in a supportive, hands-on design role, we’d love to hear from you.
