Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Salary Negotiable depending on experience + Overtime

A leading UK manufacturer of construction products is looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer/Fitter to join their busy production facilities in the Colchester area. This is a hands-on role where you’ll keep high-output machinery running safely and efficiently. If you are an Electrically biased engineer with manufacturing experience, then this role offers variety and a great benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems and industrial machinery
- Work on PLC-controlled equipment, overhead cranes, batching systems, and concrete cutting saws
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs
- Maintain and replace mechanical components (bearings, chains, sprockets, drives)
- Assist with machinery installation, upgrades, and basic fabrication
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations
Skills & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / BTEC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 17th or 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualified
- Strong electrical fault-finding and repair skills
- Industrial/manufacturing experience preferred (concrete, heavy plant, or construction materials)
- PLC knowledge (Siemens S7 or similar)
- Mechanically competent with basic fabrication skills
- Physically fit, reliable, and able to work in a factory/workshop environment
- Own transport required; flexible to work overtime/weekends
