About us

The MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) is a biomedical research institute where scientists and clinicians collaborate to advance the understanding of biology and its application to medicine. LMS is one of three directly funded MRC research institutes and enjoys close links with our partners at Imperial College London and at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

About the role

This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong foundation in molecular biology who is eager to expand into computational biology. The role offers the opportunity to work hands‑on with innovative single‑cell and spatial technologies, while being supported in developing programming and data analysis skills. Projects may include generating and analysing complex genomic datasets, contributing to method optimisation, and engaging in collaborative research initiatives across the institute.

About You

You are a motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a PhD (or due for completion in 6 months) in a relevant field such as bioinformatics, computational or molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, or genetics. You have strong hands‑on experience in genomic molecular biology methods (e.g., RNA‑seq, ATAC‑seq, Cut&Run) and Drosophila genetics, alongside a solid understanding of gene regulation and developmental biology. You can work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research environment. You are organised, adaptable and eager to develop new skills while supporting others in the team.
