Pay: £30,024 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent – 2‑year Graduate Programme

Hours: 36.25 per week

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is a statutory body with the ten local authorities of Greater Manchester and an elected Mayor. The Place Graduate Programme offers a 2‑year cycle of placements across diverse functions including Planning and Development Surveying, Regeneration, Economic Development, Building Control, Environmental Health, Housing Strategy, Climate Change, Delivery and Planning Policy. The programme aims to develop future leaders within Greater Manchester.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Tameside District’s Place Based Directorship across a range of functions (Planning & Development, Regeneration, etc.)
  • Assist with planning and development surveying, economic development, building control, environmental health, housing strategy, climate change initiatives, delivery and planning policy.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, deliver projects, share knowledge and ideas.
  • Participate in learning and development activities and national and local training sessions.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality and confidentiality as per GMCA policy.

Qualifications

  • Graduate status in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Resilience, adaptability and a commitment to public sector values.
  • Knowledge of local government, planning and regeneration preferred.
  • Good understanding of ICT, commercial awareness and personal leadership potential.
