About Our Client

Our client is a specialist electrical and civil engineering contractor delivering complex infrastructure projects across the rail, power, and commercial sectors. They manage enhancement and renewal projects from inception to delivery, providing a complete engineering package from concept to completion.

The Role High Voltage Senior Engineer

The High Voltage Senior Engineer will play a key technical role within the electrical engineering division, supporting the delivery of high-voltage and power distribution projects across rail, power, and commercial environments. Candidates must have proven high-voltage engineering and HV design experience.

Key Duties

Lead and coordinate HV engineering activities across multiple electrical projects Review, interpret, and discuss HV design packages and technical drawings Provide technical input into project programmes and delivery plans Support HV design development and ensure compliance with standards Plan works, identify risks, and ensure engineering assurance Provide tender support, including technical evaluation of HV schemes Liaise with clients, DNOs/IDNOs, National Grid, rail stakeholders, and commercial operators Ensure safety, quality, and HV regulatory compliance throughout delivery

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist technical support on HV systems, designs, and installations Lead engineering aspects of HV projects across rail, commercial, and power sectors Interpret electrical designs, ensuring buildability and compliance Assist with procurement, technical submissions, and contractor coordination Attend site visits to assess progress, design adherence, and safety compliance Support project planning, scheduling, documentation, and reporting Maintain risk registers, quality control, and engineering assurance documentation Collaborate with internal teams, including Commercial, Operations, and Engineering

High-voltage engineering experience (essential) High-voltage design experience (essential) Strong understanding of HV installations, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems Ability to interpret complex HV drawings and technical documentation Strong communication and coordination skills Comfortable working across commercial and power environments Willingness to visit sites nationally when required Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and high-quality engineering
