Associate Director – Fire Engineering
Osborn Associates is looking to appoint an Associate Director – Fire Engineering to help lead and grow our Fire Engineering team. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced fire engineer who can combine strong technical capability with commercial awareness, team leadership and office management.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the direction of the business, leading project delivery, managing client relationships and supporting the growth of our fire engineering capability across our London, Manchester and Glasgow offices.
The role
As an Associate Director, you will be responsible for leading a team, overseeing the delivery of high-quality fire engineering services and contributing to the strategic and commercial success of the business. This role is suited to someone who is confident operating at both project and leadership level, with the ability to mentor others, drive performance and develop long-term client relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage fire engineering projects across a range of sectors
- Provide technical leadership and quality assurance across project deliverables
- Support office leadership, team development and resource planning
- Manage and mentor engineers at all levels, supporting progression and performance
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business
- Support business development, fee proposals and commercial decision-making
- Contribute to the continued growth and strategic development of the fire engineering team
- Represent the business confidently in client, design team and stakeholder meetings
About you
- Significant experience in fire engineering consultancy
- Proven ability to lead projects, teams and client relationships
- Strong technical understanding of fire strategy, fire safety design and performance-based solutions
- Commercially aware, with experience in winning work and managing project performance
- Confident communicator with strong report-writing and interpersonal skills
- Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous
