Business Development Executive

Aston, Birmingham (Hybrid working available)

Permanent

Competitive salaries and excellent benefits including up to one day’s paid leave each year to undertake volunteering opportunities

Are you great at building relationships and having meaningful conversations? Looking for a role where you can develop your commercial skills? This could be the perfect next step.

At Make UK, we support manufacturers across the UK, and our Business Development team plays a key role in helping members get the most value from our offering.

We’re now looking for a Business Development Executive (BDE) to join the team.

The Role

This is a relationship-led, telesales and engagement role focused on quality conversations, not quick wins.

You’ll be speaking with existing members who aren’t yet using our services, helping them engage with events, briefings and updates, and introducing them to our HRL and EHS subscription services. You’ll work closely with Business Development Managers, advisers and marketing, playing a key role in turning engagement into long-term partnerships.

  • Reaching out to members to promote events, briefings and legal updates
  • Encouraging attendance and building ongoing engagement
  • Identifying needs through structured, professional conversations
  • Supporting conversion into HRL and EHS subscription services
  • Following up with event attendees and nurturing interest
  • Keeping CRM records accurate and up to date
  • Working closely with BDMs and advisers to build a strong pipeline
  • Contributing to team targets and overall commercial success

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in outbound calling or telesales (ideally B2B)
  • Confident communicator — both over the phone and in writing
  • Comfortable working towards activity and performance targets
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
  • Experience using CRM systems
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating and sharing insight

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

  • Experience in a membership or professional services environment
  • An interest in understanding business challenges
  • A willingness to learn and develop product knowledge

About You

You’re someone who:

  • Builds rapport easily and enjoys conversations
  • Is resilient, consistent and self-motivated
  • Takes a professional, ethical and customer-focused approach
  • Is open to feedback and keen to develop
  • Works well as part of a team
