£30,000 + Excellent Benefits Package
You are the person in the room who notices when something is slipping through the cracks – and does something about it. You do not wait to be asked. You chase, you follow up, you push back when something is not right, and you build the kind of relationships that mean people listen when you do.
If that sounds like you, keep reading.
Who We Are
Golden Charter is the UK’s leading independent funeral plan provider – a £1.2 billion Trust-backed business that exists to protect the livelihoods of over 780 family-run funeral firms across the country. We are not a corporate machine. We are a 200-person team in the middle of a genuine transformation – new leadership, new technology, new ways of working – and we are doing it from one of Glasgow’s most impressive city-centre offices, with a culture that genuinely values the people inside it.
The Role
The Foundation
This is a PMO support role sitting at the heart of Golden Charter’s transformation portfolio. Right now, the role is predominantly administrative and governance-focused: maintaining presentation packs, running update meetings, managing risk reviews, updating project management systems (Atlassian, Jira, DevOps), and acting as a reliable point of contact for governance queries across the business.
The Evolution
As you embed, build relationships, and demonstrate what you are capable of, this role evolves – towards analyst-level contribution, continuous improvement ownership, and genuine influence over how programme governance works across the business.
What You Need
Proactive by Nature
You chase. You nudge. You pick up the phone rather than send a third email. You know the difference between being persistent and being annoying – and you stay on the right side of that line. You escalate when something needs escalating, and you do not sit on problems.
The Confidence to Challenge
You can hold your own in a conversation. When a colleague is not meeting a governance standard, you know how to have that conversation — diplomatically, with evidence, and in a way that gets people on side rather than on edge. That takes strength of character.
Adaptability Under Pressure
You are comfortable with context-switching. You can handle a chaotic week, reset, and come back sharp. Fast-paced, ambiguous environments do not unsettle you – they energise you.
A Genuine Relationship-Builder
You invest time in people. You are interested in them – not just what they need from you, but who they are. You understand that the best outcomes come from genuine trust, and you are willing to do the work to build it.
Tech-Literate and Hungry to Learn
You are comfortable with Atlassian and Jira (or you will be quickly). You are advanced – not just competent – with the Microsoft Office Suite. Power BI and DevOps are desirable; the willingness to self-teach new tools is essential. Golden Charter is moving fast on its digital transformation, and you need to move with it.
