Apply for the Business Development Associate
Location: London
Job Description:

Associate, Business Development

Artemis Energy is seeking an Associate, Business Development to join its team in London.

This is a rare opportunity to join at the outset of a growing upstream platform and play a hands-on role in building an international E&P business. Working alongside senior leadership, the successful candidate will be involved across the full life cycle of principal-side business development – from origination and screening, through valuation, structuring, financing and execution, to post-deal integration, asset stewardship and longer-term value creation.

The role offers broad exposure, meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of commercial, strategic and financial workstreams from day one. As an early member of the team, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to help shape the role over time according to their strengths and interests, while contributing to the development of Artemis’s broader business development capability and supporting strategy execution alongside senior leadership and shareholders.

Artemis is an independent upstream oil and gas company established to acquire, develop and manage upstream energy assets across multiple jurisdictions. The company is being built with the ambition of creating a high-quality, scalable and diversified E&P platform through disciplined acquisitions, active portfolio management and long-term value creation. Artemis is one of the best-capitalised independent platforms in the market and is backed by investors including Quantum Capital Group, which has managed more than US$30 billion in equity commitments since inception and has made more than 150 investments across the energy sector.

In addition to analytical and transaction responsibilities, the role offers significant external exposure. The successful candidate will work closely with Artemis’s shareholders and capital providers, supporting presentations, analysis and ongoing engagement around new opportunities and portfolio developments. The role will also involve regular interaction with financial and legal advisers, diligence providers, financing parties and, critically, direct engagement with principals and counterparties in live acquisition and strategic processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the origination, screening and evaluation of acquisition opportunities
  • Build and maintain financial, valuation and scenario models to support opportunity assessment and decision-making
  • Prepare investment materials, presentations and analysis for senior leadership, shareholders and capital providers
  • Coordinate diligence and execution workstreams internally and with external advisers, including financial, commercial, technical and legal parties
  • Engage with counterparties, principals, advisers and financing parties throughout live processes
  • Support structuring, financing, post-deal integration and ongoing asset / portfolio monitoring

Who we are looking for

  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in either:
  • Investment banking, ideally with exposure to oil & gas or broader energy transactions; or
  • An upstream oil & gas company across business development, new ventures, corporate development, commercial, strategy or portfolio roles
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation and analytical skills
  • Commercial judgement and interest in working across the full life cycle of upstream business development
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, shareholders, counterparties and advisers
  • Ability to operate independently, form a view beyond the numbers and work effectively in a lean, fast-moving environment with imperfect information

Why join Artemis?

This role offers the opportunity to join Artemis at the beginning of its journey and gain genuine principal-side breadth from day one. The successful candidate will play an active role in evaluating opportunities, supporting financing, driving execution, engaging with shareholders and counterparties, and contributing to the integration and stewardship of assets over time. For the right candidate, it offers the chance to combine transaction exposure, commercial responsibility and external engagement within a highly entrepreneurial platform, while also helping shape how the role and the wider function evolve as Artemis grows.
