Asset Manager – Solar PV & BESS

Location – London (hybrid)

Mint Selection have partnered with an exciting asset owner to help build their asset management function as they grow their operational portfolio from 180MW – 600+MW of co-located PV & BESS projects in the next 12 months.

We are seeking a technically strong Asset Manager to oversee the performance, reliability, and compliance of a portfolio of utility-scale, co-located Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and commercial management, ensuring assets operate safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual and financial expectations.

The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day asset performance while supporting optimisation strategies, contractor management, and key stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Asset Management

  • Monitor and analyse asset performance (Solar PV and BESS), identifying underperformance and implementing corrective actions
  • Oversee O&M contractors to ensure adherence to KPIs, SLAs, and technical standards
  • Review SCADA data, fault reports, and maintenance logs to optimise system availability and efficiency
  • Lead root cause analysis for major incidents or recurring issues
  • Support lifecycle planning, including major component replacements and upgrades
  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Operational Oversight

  • Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance activities
  • Manage outages and ensure minimal downtime across the portfolio
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset performance and reduce costs
  • Support commissioning and integration of new assets into the portfolio

Commercial & Contractual Management

  • Manage and enforce contracts including O&M agreements, warranties, and service contracts
  • Interface with offtakers, grid operators, and other key stakeholders

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare regular technical and operational reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Present performance insights and recommendations to senior management
  • Collaborate with finance, trading, and development teams to support asset optimisation strategies

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline), or solid technical acumen from on the job training.
  • Experience in asset management, operations, or engineering within renewable energy (Solar PV and/or BESS preferred)
  • Strong understanding of utility-scale energy systems and performance metrics
  • Experience managing O&M contractors and technical service providers
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and data analysis tools
  • Working knowledge of grid compliance and health & safety standards

Desirable:

  • Experience with co-located or hybrid energy assets
  • Experience with contractual frameworks (e.g., EPC, O&M, LTSA agreements)
