Project Engineer / Technical Project Lead

We’re working with a specialist engineering business developing high value, low volume products used in highly demanding environments.
They’re looking to bring in someone to support the delivery of complex programmes – but this isn’t a typical “career Project Manager” hire.
Instead, we’re interested in speaking with individuals who are technically strong and have been close to the detail – people who understand how products are designed, developed, and brought into reality.
In this role, you’ll:
- Work alongside design and engineering teams to drive progress across active programmes
- Help bring structure, clarity, and momentum to technically complex work
- Translate engineering challenges and solutions into clear updates for a wider audience
- Support coordination across design, manufacturing, and stakeholders
- Play a key role in moving products from concept through to delivery
We’re particularly keen to hear from people who:
- Come from a mechanical, electronics, or product engineering background
- Are comfortable getting into the technical detail when needed
- Can clearly communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Naturally take ownership, organise work, and help drive things forward
- Have found themselves informally coordinating work, leading packages, or acting as a central point within projects
This could suit someone who hasn’t held the title of Project Manager before, but is already operating in that space day-to-day.
You’ll be supported in developing the delivery side – what matters most is your technical credibility and ability to bring people with you.
