Job Title: Supplier Relationship Manager
Location: Stevenage
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 depending on experience, plus bonus and benefits
A major UK defence and technology business is growing its Digital Services & Solutions Procurement team and is looking for a Supplier Relationship Manager to lead SRM for key IT and software vendors. You’ll sit at the heart of the organisation’s digital ecosystem, ensuring critical suppliers deliver to agreed service levels, support transformation goals and remain aligned to business risk and resilience expectations.
The role
As a Supplier Relationship Manager, you will be responsible for the ongoing performance, governance and development of strategic IT and digital suppliers. You’ll work closely with procurement, IT and business stakeholders to ensure contracts, SLAs and commercial frameworks continue to support changing needs. This is an opportunity to build a mature SRM model in a high‑stakes, technology‑driven defence environment.
What you will be doing
- Acting as primary SRM lead for key digital and IT suppliers (e.g. SaaS, software, infrastructure, networks and cyber vendors).
- Owning and maintaining supplier relationship frameworks, governance rhythms, performance dashboards and improvement plans.
- Defining, reviewing and refining SLAs, KPIs and contractual schedules to ensure services meet evolving business requirements.
- Working with category managers and procurement colleagues to align SRM activity with sourcing strategies and contract lifecycles.
- Leading supplier reviews, risk assessments and issue resolution, escalating to senior stakeholders where required.
- Coaching and upskilling colleagues in SRM best practice, helping embed a consistent, value‑focused approach across the digital supplier base.
What we are looking for
- Significant experience in procurement, vendor management or SRM roles supporting IT, software or digital services.
- Strong understanding of contracts, SLAs and performance management, with confidence drafting or refining commercial schedules.
- Proven ability to manage senior internal and external stakeholders, including complex or sensitive supplier relationships.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with high emotional intelligence and a collaborative style.
- MCIPS, SRM–specific training or similar professional qualifications are highly desirable.
