Principal Mechanical Engineer – Radar Systems | BAE Systems | UK | SC Required (Not needed to start)
BAE Systems have a requirement for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the development of next-generation radar technologies.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership position within a highly secure engineering environment, ideal for someone with deep expertise across mechanical design, analysis, and integration of complex systems.
The Role:
- Lead mechanical engineering activity across advanced radar development programmes
- Provide technical leadership to a team of mechanical & CAD engineers
- Own design, build, integration, and test of complex mechanical systems
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (e.g. FEA, CFD, Structures, Thermal)
- Support engineering lifecycle from requirements through to in-service support
Key Experience Required:
- Strong background in mechanical design & system integration
- Experience with composite materials and structural behaviour
- Proven use of FEA / CFD / modelling & simulation tools
- Knowledge of shock, vibration, and dynamic loading environments
- Familiarity with engineering standards & full lifecycle delivery
Additional:
- Experience leading teams / work packages within engineering projects
- Strong stakeholder management and technical leadership capability
- CEng (or equivalent experience) desirable
- Experience with SAP PDM or similar tools beneficial
