We’re supporting a growing engineering and manufacturing business operating within a fast-paced mechatronics environment, looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Design Engineer.
This is an end-to-end design role with real visibility across the full product lifecycle. You’ll be involved from initial concept through to production, while also playing a key role on the shop floor supporting build, fault finding and continuous improvement.
This isn’t a pure desk-based design role. Around 20–25% of your time will be spent in production, working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve processes, support delivery and ensure designs translate effectively into build.
What you’ll be doing
- Delivering full lifecycle electrical design from concept through to production
- Producing schematics, layouts and supporting documentation
- Supporting New Product Introduction and engineering change activity
- Completing FMEAs and supporting design validation processes
- Taking ownership of elements of project delivery, working cross-functionally with wider teams
- Spending time on the shop floor supporting fault finding, root cause analysis and process improvement
- Working closely with build teams to ensure designs are practical, repeatable and efficient
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in an electrical design role within a manufacturing or mechatronics environment
- Experience delivering end-to-end design rather than working in a siloed function
- Comfortable operating between design and production, with a hands-on approach
- Experience with FMEA and structured engineering / quality processes
- Ability to support or lead elements of project delivery
- 18th Edition would be highly beneficial, but not essential
