NorthPoint Wealth is a control investor in top-tier UK Independent Financial Advice (IFA) businesses and is backed by a US private investment group that has deployed more than £800m into UK financial services. NorthPoint Wealth has completed some of its cornerstone acquisitions and is now seeking to bolster its central team with a finance hire.
The firm has exciting plans for growth, is well capitalized and the successful candidate will be part of a nimble team operating at the centre of a fast-scaling platform, with direct exposure to M&A activity, strategic decision-making, and the opportunity to help shape the financial infrastructure of a rapidly growing UK wealth business.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function in NorthPoint Wealth. This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable operating independently, managing day-to-day finance operations, and acting as a key financial liaison with external accountants and the principals of the businesses NorthPoint has invested in.
This role involves overseeing the finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting including dissemination of MI from back-office systems, and managing relationships with external stakeholders. The role will also involve exposure to acquisitions and post deal closing integration focused on finance and MI work streams.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Control
- Prepare monthly management accounts from Xero (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and work with the divisional CEOs of the IFA businesses we have invested in
- Deliver variance analysis and commentary to management
- Preparing forecasts and budgets
- Completing income reconciliation and tracking deferred payment schedules for acquisitions
- Maintain internal financial accounting of the group including loan notes and management fees charged to group entities
- Maintain and improve financial controls and reporting processes
Systems & IFA Operations
- Prepare management information from financial statements and IO back-office systems
- Lead finance integration and transition for IFA firms we invest in
Statutory & External Reporting
- Act as the primary contact for external accountants and lead the preparation of year-end statutory accounts
- Assist with audits and regulatory reporting requirements
Acquisitions and Transition
- Assist Head of Acquisitions and Head of Underwriting with acquisitions
Qualifications
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA (qualified or part-qualified preferred, but not essential if experienced)
Required Skills
- 7+ years in finance roles within a large IFA firm and ideally with experience of integrating acquisitions and absorbing finance roles
- Strong experience of Xero, IO back-office system and generating interesting MI insights
- Experience preparing management accounts independently in Excel
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- Comfortable working autonomously in a lean team
- Adaptable communicator used to dealing with different types of stakeholders
- Ability to translate financial data into clear insights
