Front Office Support Engineer

London (Hybrid)

Up to £90,000 + Bonus

A trading firm is looking for a Front Office Support Engineer to join a team supporting real-time trading systems from an infrastructure and connectivity perspective.

This role is heavily focused on diagnosing issues across network, Linux and trading system layers rather than pure application support.

The Role

You’ll work directly with trading desks to troubleshoot production issues impacting order flow, connectivity and system performance.

This is an environment where understanding how systems behave under load, across network paths and into exchanges actually matters.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting trading systems with a focus on infrastructure, network and connectivity
  • Investigating latency, packet loss and trading flow issues
  • Troubleshooting FIX sessions, order routing and exchange connectivity
  • Working across Linux systems, logs, and system metrics to identify root causes
  • Analysing network behaviour using tools like tcpdump or similar
  • Supporting market data and execution flow into trading systems
  • Working closely with traders, network teams and developers during live incidents

Projects

  • Diagnosing and resolving exchange connectivity and FIX session issues
  • Investigating network-related trading incidents across TCP/UDP flows
  • Improving system reliability through monitoring and performance tuning
  • Supporting rollout of new trading venues and connectivity setups
  • Enhancing observability across infra, network and application layers

What They’re Looking For

  • Experience in front office or trading systems support
  • Strong Linux troubleshooting capability
  • Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, latency, packet flow)
  • Experience supporting FIX connectivity and trading workflows
  • Ability to debug issues across infrastructure, network and application layers
  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash or similar)

Why This Role

  • Proper front office exposure
  • Real technical ownership across infra and connectivity
  • Not a ticket-driven environment
  • Opportunity to work on low latency trading systems

If you’re currently in support but want to get deeper into the infrastructure and connectivity side of trading, this is a strong move.
