Commercial Property Associate, Rural & Estates (c.3–4 PQE)
Land, estates, development and long-term client relationships.
We’re working with a well-regarded London law firm that has built a strong reputation advising private landowners, estates and rural clients on complex and often high-value property matters. With a growing pipeline of work in this space, they are now looking to hire a Commercial Property Associate who enjoys the detail, variety and long-term nature of rural and estate-based work.
This is not a standard commercial property role focused purely on transactional volume. The work here is more nuanced. It involves long-standing client relationships, multi-layered land interests and development projects that evolve over time.
If you enjoy getting under the skin of a matter and advising clients who take a long-term view, this is a genuinely interesting platform.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting for private landowners, estates, trustees and family businesses on a wide range of rural property matters
- Advising on sales and acquisitions of land and estate assets, including development sites
- Handling agricultural tenancies and rural landlord and tenant work
- Managing estate management matters, including easements, covenants and rights over land
- Working on option agreements, overage and conditional contracts linked to development
- Supporting on the property aspects of private client and tax-driven matters
- Advising a broader client base including investors and companies on commercial property transactions where required
- Building strong, long-term relationships with clients and professional referrers
What they’re looking for:
- Around 3 to 4 years’ PQE with solid experience in Commercial Property
- Exposure to rural, agricultural or estate-based work would be highly advantageous
- Strong technical grounding across landlord and tenant, acquisitions and disposals
- A commercially aware lawyer who understands the importance of long-term client relationships
- Someone detail-oriented, pragmatic and comfortable managing complex, evolving matters
- Confident communicator who enjoys working closely with clients and advisers
Why this role stands out:
- A genuine focus on rural and estate work, not just general commercial property
- High-quality, often complex matters with long-term client involvement
- Opportunity to develop a niche specialism within a well-regarded team
- Direct access to senior lawyers and strong mentoring
- Clear progression as the team continues to grow
This is a great opportunity for a Commercial Property Associate who wants to move away from
purely transactional work and into something more relationship-driven and strategically interesting.
