About Layer 02
Layer 02 is a London-based architectural practice specialising in high-end hospitality interiors. Our work is defined by technical rigour and a refined, minimalist aesthetic. We work on complex, often Grade-listed sites across London, delivering projects that range from Michelin-star restaurants to bespoke boutique hotels.
We are a small, focused team. We value precision, spatial problem-solving, and the ability to translate a clear design concept into a beautifully executed technical reality.
The Role
We are looking for a designer with a strong technical foundation to join our studio. This is a role for someone who enjoys the “how” of architecture, bridging the gap between a conceptual vision and a buildable, high-quality interior. You will work closely with the Founder across all RIBA stages, taking ownership of technical packages and on-site delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Design: Developing detailed architectural and interior construction packages. You will be responsible for drawing sets, joinery detailing, and material specifications.
- Spatial Coordination: Resolving complex spatial layouts, ensuring that the back-of-house and front-of-house operations integrate seamlessly within the design.
- BIM: Basic understanding of Revit workflows and coordinating with our external drafting partners to maintain high standards of quality and consistency.
- Project Delivery: Supporting projects from inception to completion, including planning applications, Licenses to Alter (LTA), and on-site coordination with contractors.
- Visual Communication: Creating high-quality presentations and visualisations to communicate design intent to clients and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Education: Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the UK hospitality or high-end commercial sector.
- Software: You must be proficient in Rhino and Enscape for visualisation is essential. Knowing Revit is a bonus.
- Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and experience working with London heritage and listed building constraints.
- Detail Oriented: A genuine interest in the craft of detailing and a high level of accuracy in technical production.
- Professionalism: Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent the studio in meetings with clients and consultants.
