Private Equity Funds Lawyer (London)
A leading global law firm is seeking an experienced Private Equity Funds Lawyer to join its Asset Management & Investment Funds team in London.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regarded global funds practice, advising a broad range of fund sponsors across the full lifecycle of private investment funds, with a strong emphasis on mid-market private equity.
The Team
The global funds team advises fund sponsors across private equity, venture capital, credit, and real assets, supporting both emerging managers and large institutional sponsors. The London team is a key part of this international platform, working closely with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions to deliver integrated fund formation, regulatory, and advisory services.
The Role
You will play a central role in advising fund sponsors on the structuring, formation, and operation of private funds, including:
- Structuring and launching private equity and venture capital funds, as well as credit and real asset strategies
- Advising on fund terms, governance arrangements, and carried interest structures
- Drafting and negotiating key documentation including LPAs, subscription agreements, and side letters
- Supporting fundraising processes and negotiating with institutional investors
- Advising on first-time funds, spin-outs, and independent sponsor platforms
- Working closely with transactional private equity teams, particularly on sponsor-led matters
- Collaborating with international colleagues on cross-border fund formation and regulatory issues
- Exposure to secondary transactions and broader lifecycle advisory work
This is a hands-on role with strong partner access, offering early responsibility and direct client engagement.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 3-4 years’ PQE with strong experience in private equity funds
- Background from a top City or leading international firm
- Proven experience advising on GP-side fund formation and structuring
- Excellent drafting, technical, and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a client-focused approach
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to perform well in fast-paced environments
