Location: Aylesbury (3 days in the office, 2 days from home)

Salary: £60,000 per annum

The Opportunity

An established transport organisation is seeking an experienced HSSE Manager – Engineering to join their Health, Safety, Security and Environment function. This is a critical role providing expert HSSE business partner support to the Engineering function, ensuring the safe operation of maintenance and engineering activities across the network during a busy transformation period.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence safety standards, drive compliance, and deliver key initiatives aligned with the company’s annual HSSE plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide HSSE leadership and support within the Engineering function, acting as the key business partner for managers and teams
  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety standards, procedures, and risk assessments
  • Monitor incident trends and support investigations to ensure lessons are embedded
  • Lead and deliver risk-based HSSE audits and compliance reviews
  • Oversee accreditation and management system compliance (ISO/PAS99)
  • Support safety validation and change management for engineering projects
  • Engage effectively with unions and internal stakeholders to support HSSE initiatives
  • Represent the organisation externally with regulators, industry bodies, and peer operators
  • Lead specific HSSE projects and initiatives, deputising for senior leadership as required

Candidate Profile

  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational xwzovoh Safety and Health
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation and its application to engineering operations
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Competence in IT applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
  • Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • IOSH membership, working towards Chartered (CMIOSH)
  • Lead Auditor qualification (or working towards)
