Design Manager Role Description:

You will play a key role in delivering Design & Build projects from pre-construction through to handover, working closely with internal teams, consultants, and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
This is a client-facing role, requiring strong technical understanding, coordination of design development, and effective programme delivery.
Typical Projects
The business delivers a diverse range of schemes, typically valued between £1m £15m+, including:
- Education facilities (schools, colleges, technical institutes)
- Healthcare & laboratory environments
- Commercial & office developments
- Industrial & manufacturing units
- Retail & leisure schemes
- Residential & mixed-use developments
Many projects are delivered via Design & Build, making this experience essential.
Design Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Managing projects through full lifecycle (pre-construction to completion)
- Coordinating and managing design teams and consultants
- Overseeing programme, cost, and quality delivery
- Ensuring compliance with H&S and contractual requirements
- Acting as the key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
- Driving a collaborative, solutions-focused project environment
Design Manager Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience working for a main contractor
- Strong Design & Build project experience (essential)
- Background delivering projects in sectors such as education, commercial, healthcare, or industrial
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management xwzovoh skills
- Ability to manage multiple packages and design coordination
