Job Description:

  • Are you a commercially driven finance leader with a proven track record of partnering Sales and Operational teams in fast-paced consumer goods environments?
  • MacGregor Black are partnering with a high-volume, multi-channel consumer goods business on the search for a Head of Commercial Finance.
  • This high-profile leadership role is responsible for delivering financial insight and commercial challenge across the business, supporting revenue growth, margin optimisation, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial finance function, providing strategic insight and financial leadership to support business growth and performance.
  • Act as a trusted finance partner to Sales, Marketing, and Operational leadership teams, influencing key commercial decisions and driving accountability for financial outcomes.
  • Provide deep analysis of trading performance across customers, channels, and product categories to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support the development and execution of pricing strategies, promotional plans, and trade investment decisions to maximise revenue and margin.
  • Lead the financial planning cycle, including budgeting and forecasting, ensuring robust assumptions aligned with commercial strategy.
  • Deliver clear and actionable financial insight through monthly performance reviews and Board-level reporting.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities, product launches, and strategic initiatives through rigorous financial analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting, modelling, and insight generation to support business agility.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing commercial finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and development.

What We’re Looking For

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant experience in commercial finance within FMCG or a similarly fast-paced consumer environment.
  • Strong track record partnering commercial teams and influencing senior stakeholders in revenue and margin-driving decisions.
  • Deep understanding of customer profitability, pricing strategy, promotional investment, and commercial performance drivers.
  • Highly analytical with advanced Excel capabilities; experience using BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau is advantageous.
  • Commercially curious, proactive, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
  • Proven experience leading and developing finance teams.
  • Experience with commercial systems and ERP platforms is advantageous.
