Product Owner – VMware / OpenShift Platforms

Location: London (2 days onsite per week)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of enterprise platform services across VMware and OpenShift environments.

This role sits at the intersection of business and engineering, ensuring platform capabilities align with organisational goals while enabling scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure services. You will play a key role in driving product vision, prioritisation, and continuous improvement within a complex, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the product backlog for VMware and OpenShift platform services
• Define and communicate a clear product vision and roadmap aligned to business objectives
• Prioritise features, enhancements, and technical initiatives based on value, risk, and dependencies
• Ensure alignment with organisational strategy, regulatory requirements, and technology standards

Delivery & Agile Execution

• Work closely with engineering teams to translate business requirements into actionable user stories
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives)
• Ensure continuous delivery of value through iterative development
• Track progress, manage dependencies, and remove delivery blockers

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders, engineering, and operations teams
• Gather and refine requirements from technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Provide regular updates on roadmap progress, risks, and delivery outcomes
• Ensure strong alignment across infrastructure, security, and application teams

Platform & Technical Alignment

• Develop a strong understanding of VMware and OpenShift platform capabilities
• Collaborate with SMEs to guide platform lifecycle planning (upgrades, enhancements, optimisation)
• Support decision-making around platform investments and improvements
• Ensure platform services meet performance, scalability, and reliability expectations
• Ensure platform services adhere to security, compliance, and regulatory standards
• Support audit activities and maintain appropriate documentation
• Manage risks and ensure appropriate controls are in place

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience as a Product Owner within infrastructure, platform, or cloud environments
• Strong understanding of VMware and/or OpenShift platforms
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments (Scrum/Kanban)
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience managing backlogs, roadmaps, and prioritisation in a complex environment
• Analytical mindset with a focus on delivering measurable value
• Experience within Financial Services or other regulated environments
• Familiarity with platform engineering or DevOps practices
• Knowledge of cloud and hybrid infrastructure models
• Relevant certifications (e.g. Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe PO/PM)
