Position Duties

Develop and manage the creation of complex civil engineering designs for drainage, highways, and infrastructure schemesProject manage schemes from concept through to construction, ensuring timelines and budgets are metWork closely with local authorities, developers, architects, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycleReview and approve technical designs, drawings, and reports produced by the teamManage and allocate team resources to deliver multiple projects efficientlyMentor and train junior engineers, supporting their professional development and career progressionCoordinate and manage specialist sub-consultants on projectsPrepare fee proposals and support business development initiativesAttend client meetings, site visits, and project consultations, providing technical advice and guidanceEnsure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks (e.g. Sewers for Adoption, SuDS Manual, DMRB, Manual for Streets)Identify, evaluate, and implement engineering solutions, assessing their effectiveness across the project life cycleMonitor and manage project budgets, costs, and resources while maintaining commercial awarenessMaintain and improve quality processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiativesApply health, safety, and risk management principles in all design and project activitiesSupport marketing and networking activities, promoting the company’s services and building client relationshipsPosition Requirements

Degree or HND in Civil EngineeringPreferably Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards IEng with the Institution of Civil Engineers5+ years’ experience in a civil engineering consultancy environmentExperience working with local authorities, developers, and architectsStrong technical knowledge of civil engineering design (drainage systems, highways, S278/S38 schemes)Proficiency in AutoCAD and Site 3D (or equivalent 3D design software)Understanding of design standards (e.g. Sewers for Adoption, SuDS Manual, DMRB, Manual for Streets)Experience across residential, commercial, and retirement/care schemesExperience managing projects through the planning process (pre-application to condition discharge)Civil engineering project management experience, including schemes with drainage, external works, and highways elementsExperience coordinating and managing design team resourcesExperience reviewing junior engineers’ reports, drawings, and designsExperience attending client meetings and site visitsExperience preparing fee proposalsExperience contributing to business development and networking activitiesAbility to solve engineering problems using sound theoretical and practical approachesProject management skills, including planning, resource allocation, and deliveryCommercial awareness, including budget management and cost controlKnowledge of statutory, regulatory, and commercial frameworksUnderstanding of health, safety, and risk management in designAwareness and application of sustainable development principlesAbility to present and communicate ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholdersPosition Remuneration
