Academic Operations Manager

Full time (35 hrs/wk), permanent

Split place of work between Horizons (Reading, Berkshire) and Home with up to three days per week working from home

Salary range £35,000 to £38,000 pa plus benefits

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join our Academic Operations team. You will be involved in a range of processes, spanning Academic Planning, resource and workload allocation, contracting, and supporting the continuous development of the Academic Operations database.

This role is integral to the smooth running of our Academic Operations, and you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day processes whilst ensuring the team are informed and supported. You will play a pivotal role in creating an environment that supports our academics to do their best work, and ultimately, to contribute to the University’s ambition to be the Centre of Excellence for Built Environment Education. 

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Manage Associate Lecturer onboarding, training, credentialling, resourcing, contracting, performance management, and payment
  • Manage, motivate, and support a team of four Operations Administrators
  • Assist the Research Funding and Operations Manager with the administration of grant costing and bids, grant management, and reporting
  • Champion our Associate Lecturer community, ensuring that the appropriate infrastructure is in place to maximise both the staff and student experience

Our main requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role focused on operational excellence
  • Previous experience leading implementation projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders
  • Sound administrative skills with good attention to detail and the ability to co-ordinate activity across teams
