Senior Software Engineer
Office Location: Holborn, London – hybrid working environment (3 days in office per week).
Our Mission
Historically, investing in options has been complex and limited to wealthy and professional investors, but our mission is to level the playing field and finally make options trading accessible.
After raising £3.5mn, we launched our first mobile app that strips back the complexity, removes the commissions, and enables options to be traded as easily as shares.
The Role
The Investa app was installed over 1,000 times within the first 24 hours of our priority access launch and we’re now looking for a high-impact Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our engineering team as we scale.
You will have extensive commercial experience designing, building and maintaining systems used in critical services or those handling significant volumes of activity.
You will play a crucial role in building key parts of our platform and apps, ensuring the robustness, scalability, and security of our systems.

What the role involves
Designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure systems for critical services.
Continually improving system performance, reliability, and security.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to build a class-leading product.
Mentoring and guiding engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Ensure best practice through example and continual team feedback.
Root causing real-time production issues in a timely manner.
Taking a pragmatic approach to software development.
Your background
Proven track record working with critical services or high-volume applications.
Strong proficiency in a number of programming languages, which can include Python, TypeScript, Java, JavaScript, Go and others.
Highly driven by technology with experience across multiple platforms.
Familiarity with Serverless technologies (AWS, Azure or GCP).
Strong understanding of system architecture, event-driven design and distributed systems.
Product-minded and able to work on solutions that are tightly aligned with the product goals.
Driven and committed to helping grow the organisation.
On-call
All engineers at Investa are involved in providing support for our products. This involves responding to events outside of working hours and is a core part of the role of all engineers.
Compensation
Salary band: £85,000 – £105,000
Equity options: 0.1% – 0.2%
Salary review to take place on an annual basis
Hybrid working policy: Mandatory minimum three days a week in our Holborn office
Experience level: At least six years in commercial software engineering
On-call: Engineers are expected to be on-call at least one week per month
