Job Title: Senior Town Planner

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multidisciplinary consultancy in their search for a Senior Town Planner to join their team in Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planner to take the next step in their career, working across a diverse portfolio of projects including residential, commercial, rural, and infrastructure developments. The successful candidate will play a key role in project delivery while contributing to the continued growth of the team.
THE ROLE
As a Senior Town Planner, you will take responsibility for managing a range of planning projects from initial concept through to determination.
You will lead on client interactions, provide strategic planning advice, and support junior team members, all while working within a collaborative and dynamic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading and managing planning applications and projects
- Providing strategic planning advice to clients
- Preparing high-quality planning reports and documentation
- Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
- Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Contributing to business development and identifying new opportunities
- Attending meetings, site visits, and consultations
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- MRTPI qualified
- Significant experience within a planning consultancy or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage projects and client relationships
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
