Overview
We are looking to recruit a knowledgeable and dedicated Clinical Research Nurse to join the Research and Innovation department at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Summary of the role
The post holder will work with a vibrant team of research nurses and practitioners delivering a broad portfolio of research studies. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the assessment and management of the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials, including the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
Responsibilities
- Initially work with supervision with the aim of working autonomously to assist in the management of a caseload of clinical trial patients, while working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and professionals to ensure high quality service delivery.
- Assist in identifying suitable patients for entry into clinical trials by attending clinics (screening notes) and relevant Multi‑disciplinary Team meetings.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient events in nursing/medical notes and Case Report Forms.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of treatment options, treatment side effects and disease processes to support patients in making an informed treatment choice.
- Provide ongoing information, education and support to patients (and their significant others) regarding clinical trials and specific trial treatments.
- Ensure that trial‑specific investigations are undertaken as required by the trial protocol and obtain results to establish eligibility and safety to enter the trial.
- Ensure the safe administration of treatments and drugs that are given within the context of a clinical trial.
- Engage in activities that raise the research profile of the organisation.
Location
The role is based at Frimley Park but will involve some cross site working to support delivery teams at other sites of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, including Heatherwood and Aldershot Centre for Health.
