We currently have a great opportunity for you to join our waste treatment team as a Generator Field Service Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance of the fleet of CHP Spark Ignition generators.
- Work with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure maintenance is carried out safely, with the least possible downtime and within budget.
- Complete accurate service records and reports in a timely manner.
- Identify and order required parts, lubricants, and waste.
- Demonstrate a zero‑compromise attitude towards health, safety, and well‑being in all aspects of work.
- Ensure excellent customer service and share skills from product training with other team members.
Location
Depending on your location, you can be based at any of our sites in the Thames Valley, Home Counties, and the London area. The role requires you to be based in the Thames Valley or London area and to travel within that region.
Working Pattern
45 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Includes a standby rota with additional payment and opportunities to earn overtime at time and a half or double rates.
Technical Requirements
- Operate and optimise assets using engine/generator controls such as ComAp, DIA.NE, and TEM Evo.
- In‑depth knowledge of internal combustion engine operation and maintenance.
- Competent at thorough, comprehensive, and methodical diagnostics on engine, generator, and associated systems.
- Capable of working to a high level of quality, both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications and Experience
- NVQ/C&G or an engine manufacturer’s qualification in mechanical engineering (ideal).
- Electrical qualification is an advantage, not essential.
- Proven hands‑on experience working with internal combustion engines and associated systems.
- Experience with natural/bio/AD gas engines, CHP, and gas systems is desirable.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
