You’ll be surrounded by an open, collaborative culture that embraces diversity, recognition, professional development and, most importantly, you.

Are you ready to make your impact?

About The Role

In FTI Consulting’s Economic and Financial Consulting (EFC) practice, we help our clients navigate legal, regulatory and international arbitration proceedings while supporting strategic decision‑making and public policy debates around the world. Delivering incisive interpretations of complex economic issues has made us a global leader in this field.

In Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), we have teams based in numerous cities such as London, Paris, and Munich, who work closely with teams around the globe. The London team comprises over 180 professional staff.

The Capital Markets Services team within EFC advises decision‑makers in diverse circumstances. We provide expertise in complex financial instruments and derivatives to clients globally. We cumulate decades of experience in trading, investment management, valuation and risk management covering multiple asset classes including equity, fixed income, credit, commodities, foreign exchange, interest rates and energy.

We serve a wide range of market participants and offer cross‑industry expertise to clients globally (buy side, sell side, financial intermediaries and regulators), in special and complex situations, for example:

Valuation and Risk management: We combine our quantitative skills, market research, cutting‑edge technology and data analytics to provide situationally tailored valuation and risk advice.

Disputes, Litigation & Arbitration: We offer independent expertise and testimony in disputes, litigation and arbitration worldwide.

Investigations: We assist market participants or regulators in investigations involving financial instruments and trading environments.

Transaction advisory: We support transactions involving trading, valuation and risk expertise to understand and value financial instruments in mergers, acquisitions, liquidations or restructurings.

What You’ll Do

This is a full‑time position within the Capital Market Services team.

As a Consultant in Capital Market Services, you will primarily work with the Capital Markets Services team but may be involved in the full range of EFC’s work or with other practices at FTI, focusing on the financial, commodity and energy markets.

Consultants are centrally involved in conducting research and analysis. They are expected – under the guidance of senior team members – to conduct quantitative, industry and market analysis, take responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of their work, and report findings clearly and concisely, verbally or in writing.

The role will also involve:

  • Supporting the senior team with writing articles, preparing proposals and presentations for new opportunities;
  • Performing research and collaborating in implementing proprietary valuation and risk‑management solutions;
  • Implementing practical solutions to address client issues, bringing industry insight and experience.

How You’ll Grow

We offer a competitive and attractive rewards package, excellent training and development, opportunities to work abroad, and a supportive and friendly environment that will help you achieve your potential. The skills and experience you will develop with us will stand you in good stead for the rest of your career.

What You Will Need to Succeed

Suitable candidates are problem‑solvers who enjoy developing and applying bespoke approaches to complex, unstructured problems logically. Candidates have strong analytical skills and can explain their work and communicate findings clearly, verbally and in writing. The ideal candidate has an eye for both the big picture and finer details.

In addition, the following emerging knowledge and competencies are desired:

  • A good understanding of financial instruments, derivatives valuation and risk‑management techniques in at least one asset class (equity, fixed income, credit, foreign exchange, interest rates, commodities, energy);
  • Familiarity with global financial market policies and regulations;
  • Knowledge of recent financial market developments such as algorithmic trading, ESG investments, cryptocurrencies and digital assets markets, and derivatives;
  • Capacity to critically evaluate different sources of information and assumptions;
  • Ability to implement robust methods to address complex economic and financial issues;
  • Ability to produce high‑quality work and create efficiencies in research and analytical tasks under time pressure;
  • Good time‑management skills while prioritising multiple tasks;
  • Experience in summarising analysis and conducting research for reports or presentations;
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Intermediate programming knowledge (e.g. Python, R Studio, C++);
  • Working knowledge of financial systems and data providers (e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters);
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing in another European language is a plus.

Basic Qualifications

The qualifications and experience we typically look for in Consultant candidates:

  • Relevant work experience or academic background in quantitative finance, derivative valuation or risk‑management roles in investment banking, asset management or the energy/commodity sector;
  • Sufficient professional experience or extracurricular activities to demonstrate effectiveness as a Consultant and alignment with our firm’s values of integrity, creativity, achievement, respect and empathy.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Being in the process of completing or having completed a relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA, CQF, FRM, CAIA, etc.);
  • Prior work experience in an advisory capacity or delivering work product in a contentious context (litigation, arbitration, investigations or disputes).

Our goal is to support the well‑being of you and your families – physically, emotionally and financially. We offer market‑competitive benefits (including pension), supplemented by 15 flexible benefits to meet your needs, including health, lifestyle, family‑friendly options, professional development programmes, wellness, recognition, community volunteering initiatives and flexible/hybrid working arrangements.
