LV Operations Manager
Location: SP HQ, Glasgow
Salary up to £86,500 per year, with a strong benefits package including an 20% annual bonus (performance related), private healthcare (family) – plus a £450 per month car allowance.

Role
The LV Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of the low‑voltage distribution network, ensuring optimal performance, safety and reliability. You will manage a team of technicians and incident controllers, implementing operational strategies to enhance customer service, while mentoring and coaching team members and fostering a strong team culture.
Responsibilities include minimising risk to the low‑voltage network by coordinating with Distribution Operations management teams, ensuring liaison with the Distribution HV Control Room delivers high levels in safety compliance and customer service, developing policies and strategies for system restoration activities, engaging stakeholders such as HSE, DESNZ, OFGEM, SPD and other DNOs, representing the licence area and SPD interests in industry groups, and ensuring SPD readiness for increased network risk and emergencies.
What You Will Be Doing
- Encourage and promote a safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety legislation.
- Manage the LV and Control Room interfaces with Distribution Control Room, Distribution Operational Planning, SPD Operations and Major Projects, other departments within SPEN and external business partners.
- Develop an integrated shift operations team across Control, Planning, Customer Service and Control Support functions.
- Ensure appropriate resource structure to achieve operating plan goals.
- Assist in the development and delivery of the annual Operating Plan aligned with network investment and operational excellence goals.
- Deliver performance management within the LV Operations Team.
- Manage customer service proactively and reactively to meet all KPI’s.
- Conduct strategic reviews for LV/HV Control Room Operations to prepare for regulatory changes and new technologies.
- Act as Duty Manager and Emergency Planning manager as required.
- Participate in organisational change to maintain or improve performance, productivity and service standards.
- Interface with Distribution HV control to optimise security of supplies to end customers.
- Lead LV Operations to maximise regulatory financial rewards and reduce penalties.
- Initiate process improvements for cultural, technical and financial benefit.
- Coach and develop the LV Operations team and support delivery of new processes and technologies.
- Lead the department with openness, honesty and integrity, striving to maximise productivity and reduce operational cost.
- Manage risk control framework and formulate risk management strategy.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering or Operations Management, or related industry experience.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management within the electrical distribution industry.
Skills: Strong leadership and team management, excellent problem‑solving abilities, and proficiency in operations management software.
