The Role
You will lead all aspects of bus operations, managing drivers, supervisors, Traffic Office and Allocations teams to ensure safe, reliable, and profitable service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Full depot P&L accountability and budget delivery
- Leading and developing a large team of drivers and operational staff
- Driving fleet utilisation and operational efficiency
- Identifying and delivering incremental revenue opportunities
- Improving punctuality and reducing lost mileage
- Managing union relationships and workforce engagement
- Leading on health & safety, compliance, and risk reduction
- Delivering strong KPIs across service monitoring, licence checks, testing and punctuality
- Managing customer experience and resolving service issues
Qualifications
- Proven senior operational leadership experience within bus, coach, or transport operations
- Transport Manager CPC (essential)
- Strong knowledge of UK Domestic Hours Rules and EU Drivers’ Hours Regulations
- Experience managing unionised workforces
- Demonstrable experience delivering KPIs and improving depot performance
- Commercial awareness with the ability to drive profitability
- Strong people leadership and communication skills
- Experience with Trapeze and Ticketer systems is desirable
- Competence in Microsoft Office
