  • A qualified accountant or senior finance professional (e.g. CFO/Finance Director, investment,riskor public sector finance) confident interpreting management information and statutory accounts.
  • A member of the local community, willing and able to travel to attend meetings in person as needed in the Taunton area.
  • Experience of financial strategy, risk management,assuranceand value for money.
  • The ability to communicate clearly, ask thoughtfulquestions, collaborateconstructivelyand work strategically.
  • Commitment to ethical leadership and the Nolan principles.

Your contribution

  • Strengthen scrutiny of budgets, forecasting,reservesand long-term sustainability.
  • Support compliance with funding and reporting requirements, ensuring regularity,proprietyand value for money.
  • Help the board use sector tools (e.g. resource management, financial benchmarking) to inform decisions.
  • Engage withacademyleaders to understand context, pressurepointsand opportunities.

Commitment

  • Attendance at full board and committee meetings (mix of in-person and virtual).
  • Voluntaryrole;reasonable expenses reimbursed. Induction and ongoing training provided.
  • Term of office of 4 years from appointment.
