What is the Opportunity?

Royal Bank of Canada’s Global Investment Banking team is seeking experienced Associates to join our M&A team in London. This is a full‑time position where you’ll drive the execution of highly strategic public and private M&A transactions across all sectors. You’ll work alongside senior bankers and clients on complex, high‑profile deals, gaining hands‑on experience in all aspects of M&A processes while building deep relationships across our global franchise.

What will you do?

  • Drive the execution of public and private M&A transactions across all sectors from launch to closing.
  • Build sophisticated financial models and conduct comprehensive valuation analyses (DCF, comparable company, transaction analyses).
  • Manage multiple transactions in parallel, collaborating with senior bankers, clients, and external advisors.
  • Work closely with deal teams to develop transaction materials and comprehensive analyses.
  • Support transaction processes including due diligence coordination and deal documentation.
  • Develop compelling pitch materials, marketing documents, and client presentations.
  • Conduct sector and company research to identify strategic themes and opportunities.
  • Produce and maintain various M&A databases.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with various stakeholders.
  • Manage, mentor and collaborate with Analysts.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Demonstrable, relevant experience (M&A, corporate finance, Big 4 accounting firms).
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
  • Deep understanding and interest of M&A processes and valuation methodologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (fluent written and spoken English).
  • Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Team player.
  • Genuine client focus and desire to deliver results.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and high‑pressure environment.
  • Ability to take ownership of workstreams across a transaction.
  • Proficiency across Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
