Full-time | Hybrid working (2 days in office) Salary £55,000 + Benefits
We are currently supporting a growing Specialty Insurance business that’s investing heavily in data, analytics and modern BI capability. The organisation prides itself on a supportive, curious and forward‑thinking culture, where people are encouraged to be bold, collaborative and genuinely shape how data is used across the business.
The Role
You would work closely with the Head of Data Analytics & Insights, helping the business leverage insight from ideation through to delivery. The work is a mix of hands‑on BI development, data modelling, stakeholder engagement and building scalable data solutions.
We are looking for a technically strong BI Developer to join a central Analytics & Insights function within a growing data team. This role sits in one of three analytics teams and is focused on business engagement, insight generation and delivering enterprise‑scale BI solutions, not self‑service reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain enterprise‑scale BI solutions.
- Develop end‑to‑end Power BI solutions including front‑end dashboards, DAX, M queries and semantic modelling.
- Build robust, optimised SQL Server data models and queries.
- Work within a Databricks environment (SQL/PySpark exposure is beneficial; training provided if needed).
- Engage directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand challenges and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support transformation initiatives, including data modelling, documentation and process improvement.
- Collaborate with domain experts, particularly within underwriting and claims.
- Produce high‑quality dashboards and reporting that clearly link insights to business outcomes.
- Contribute to ongoing projects to quickly integrate into the team and deliver value.
Technical Skills
What We’re Looking For
- Strong Power BI experience (front and back end) – DAX, M Query, dataflows, semantic modelling.
- Advanced SQL Server skills (must be strong; key requirement).
- Experience working in a Databricks environment (or willingness to up‑skill).
- Ability to build enterprise‑scale, non‑self‑service BI solutions.
Experience & Attributes
- Ideally some experience in insurance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement; able to gather requirements and explain data concepts clearly.
- Experience with data modelling and linking BI outputs to real business outcomes.
- Curious, proactive and capable of operating in a fast‑paced environment.
