A leading Top 10 accountancy firm is seeking an experienced Audit Senior Manager to join its specialist Insurance Audit team. This is a key leadership role within a growing practice, offering exposure to a diverse portfolio of insurance clients including Lloyd’s syndicates, brokers, MGAs, and listed insurance groups.
You will play a pivotal role in leading complex audit engagements, managing senior client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth of the firm’s insurance offering.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Engagement Management
- Lead and oversee audit engagements for a portfolio of insurance clients
- Act as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, including CFOs and Finance Directors
- Ensure audits are delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Technical & Regulatory Oversight
- Provide expert guidance on insurance-specific accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Oversee audits in line with UK GAAP, IFRS, and relevant FCA/PRA regulations
- Review complex audit areas including technical reserves, reinsurance arrangements, and investment valuations
- Ensure compliance with internal audit methodology and external regulatory standards
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Audit Managers and junior team members
- Drive high performance and foster a collaborative team culture
- Play a key role in resource planning and workflow management
Business Development
- Support partners in winning new business and expanding existing client relationships
- Identify cross-selling opportunities across the wider firm
- Contribute to proposals, pitches, and thought leadership within the insurance sector
Quality & Risk Management
- Ensure robust audit quality and adherence to risk and compliance procedures
- Act as a key escalation point for technical and engagement-related matters
- Support internal and external quality reviews
Requirements
- Significant external audit experience within a Top 10 / Big 4 or leading practice
- Strong experience auditing insurance clients (e.g. Lloyd’s, brokers, MGAs, or insurers)
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, and insurance regulatory frameworks
- Proven ability to manage large, complex audit engagements
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Commercial mindset with experience supporting business development initiatives
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
