Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering & Groundworks – Manchester
Our client is a well-established, ambitious Civil Engineering and Building Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across multiple divisions. Due to continued growth and a healthy order book, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
About the Role:
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based at their Manchester office, with UK-wide site travel. You will manage the commercial aspects of multiple live contracts ranging in value from £50,000 to £8M, primarily focused on groundworks, civil engineering, drainage, external works, and building projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sub-contract procurement, order placement and certification
- Monthly valuations, variations, dayworks and final accounts
- On-screen take-offs for tenders and valuations
- Cost monitoring and QS reporting
- Regular site visits to measure progress, liaise with site teams and main contractors
- Managing supplier and subcontractor performance
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the groundworks and civil engineering sector
- Solid background in earthworks, drainage, concrete structures, roadworks and external works
- Degree level qualification (ideally in Quantity Surveying)
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Proficient with On-Screen Take Off software
- Experience with Evaluate estimating software is advantageous
- Knowledge of Eque2 would be beneficial
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
