PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for building pipeline, closing deals and driving revenue growth across corporations, foundations, and government entities. The role focuses on meeting agreed sales KPIs, contributing to the sales process, and advancing ActionFunder’s reach in the community funding sector.
This role is focused on execution: consistent outreach, strong prospect engagement, high-quality demos and converting opportunities into customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver against agreed sales targets and KPIs set with the CEO and Head of Sales
- Build and manage a healthy pipeline through outbound activity, inbound leads and networking
- Identify and qualify leads and opportunities, collaborating with the marketing team
- Execute targeted outreach campaigns aligned to priority sectors and ICPs
- Deliver compelling product demos and progress prospects through the sales funnel
- Lead proposal and business case writing for sector specific opportunities
- Collaborate closely with the Customer Success team to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients.
- Represent ActionFunder at events, presenting or attending as required
Partnership Development
- Support sales opportunities arising through the strategic partner programme
- Maintain relationships with selected partners and contribute to partner‑led pipeline growth
- Provide feedback and contribute to improving systems and processes used to manage partners
Sales Process and Enablement
- Maintain accurate CRM (HubSpot) data, ensuring opportunities, contacts and activities are up to date
- Support forecasting, reporting and pipeline reviews
- Contribute to continuously improving sales processes, tools and templates
- Share feedback from prospects to help refine messaging, pricing and product positioning
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confident presenting and running discovery calls and demos
- Ability to build rapport and credibility with a range of stakeholders
- Skilled at understanding client needs and mapping solutions
- Organised, with good attention to detail and follow‑through
- Proactive, self‑motivated and comfortable with outbound sales activity

- Experience using tools such as HubSpot, Lemlist, Apollo, LinkedIn, Slack, Google Suite.
