Role Description

This role has responsibility for the Planning and Master Data functions at the Long Sutton site. The role is responsible for ensuring that the factory production plan is optimised with regards to supporting business KPI’s in relation to customer service, inventory and factory performance.

Responsible for the operational Master Data of SAP and related MES technology solutions, resulting in efficient and effective manufacturing processes.

Dimensions

  • Long Sutton production facility – 11 Filling Lines, 15 Pack Lines, 12 Cookers and multiple shared resources adding complexity; Seasonal production.
  • c.400 finished product SKU’s
  • Team dimensions: 5 direct reports

Principal Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and master data functions at Long Sutton across all production facilities. Maintain production plans that support business KPIs of customer service and budgeted inventory levels, while maximising production efficiency and output levels; ensure production planning tools in SAP are robust and fully adopted.
  • Work with the wider Operations Team to support delivery of operational KPIs; plan attainment, wastage reduction, labour optimisation.
  • Adopt a continuous improvement approach to all planning processes, ensuring all processes are delivering efficient and cost‑optimised plans.
  • Work closely with Technical and Change Management teams, to ensure successful delivery of all product change and new product development within the range. Responsible for maintenance of master data.
  • Develop robust relationships across business functions, to increase the scope and capability of the Planning Team. Develop key relationships with Operations, Change Management, Technical, Group Demand & Supply Planning, Finance, HR.
  • Develop the capabilities of the Planning and Master Data Team, ensuring team development plans are in place and supporting future training needs and succession planning.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely transition of Master Data from NPD recipe to an operational BOM and Routing set of Master Data suitable for full scale operational use. Operational Master Data modifications to support changes arising from technology, physical or process change.
  • Establish and maintain standards in Master Data, measure processes and performance ensuring data is enhanced, optimised and controlled.
  • To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Personally demonstrate the correct safety behaviours. Support a culture that enhances behavioural awareness to reduce accidents and near misses.

Role Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years Production Planning Management experience, working in a fast‑paced FMCG environment (ideally within the Foods sector).
  • Advanced SAP user: experience with SAP based production planning and scheduling; knowledge of SAP Master Data processes.
  • Proven record of delivering product change from a Planning perspective.
  • Strong people manager, with experience in developing successful teams.
  • Highly analytical mindset, thriving within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proven record of initiating cost reduction and continuous improvement.
